Gigi Hadid Opens Up About Her Famous Lifestyle: 'I’ve Lost A Lot Of Friends'

Gigi Hadid is rarely in the same city for long.

If you follow the 22-year-old supermodel on social media, you know she is constantly jet-setting from one country to the next, walking runways, posing for campaigns and hanging out with her boyfriend, sister and close group of famous friends doing really ordinary things like taking helicopter rides and going to the Met Gala.

In an exclusive interview for the June/July issue of Harper's Bazaar, Hadid opened up about her fame, her insane schedule -- "sometimes I feel suffocated by my own work ethic" -- and the close circle of people she associates with these days.

In addition to the paparazzi and travel that come with her glamorously exhausting job, Hadid said her lifestyle has affected her friendships, too.

She told Harper's Bazaar,

A lot of interesting things in friends come out. So in a way it's good because you learn that it's better to have a few really good friends than tons of friends you aren't really sure about. There are people who understand that I love them and who know that when I get back to town I'm going to call them, but sometimes I can't call every day because I'm in weird places.

While her closest pals include Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner, Hadid said she has had to eliminate certain relationships in her life.

She continued,

I've lost a lot of friends because I'll get busy for a short period of time, and they're not reaching out, but if I don't reach out, then it's like I've changed.

This doesn't mean we need to feel bad for Hadid, who was named International Model of the Year by the British Fashion Council last year.

In fact, if you thought this was your chance to swoop in and become her new BFF -- you know, one who wouldn't mind if she didn't call you every day -- that's probably not going to happen.

She explained,

The time I do have off, it's not even enough to give everyone I love attention. I'm good with [the friends] I've got.

Speaking of the friends Gigi does have, Taylor Swift was not at a loss for words when it came to talking about her model pal. In an email to the magazine, Swift gushed,

As a friend, Gigi is one of the first people I go to for advice. She has this incredible ability to see all sides of a situation and simplify it for you, to see the complexity of people… Gigi's #1 rule is to treat people the way she'd want to be treated, so she's on time (or early) to work, says hello to everyone on set, asks them how they are, and actually listens to their response. She is an innately kind and inclusive person who has managed to become a huge power player and businesswoman without ever compromising that.

Hectic schedule and loss of friendships aside, Gigi Hadid is definitely thriving these days and it appears she and boyfriend Zayn Malik are doing better than ever.

While Zayn's name only came up briefly in the interview, she did throw in the fact that they both believe in aliens, which seems to me like a super couple-y thing to mention. Right?
