The Backstreet Boys Were Even Wilder Than Justin Bieber, We Just Didn't Know It

Ah, the good 'ole days, when pop stars were nice, respectful and drama-free.

Nowadays, you can't go a week without hearing about the latest bizarre antic Justin Bieber has pulled, or whatever new romance Drake is involved in, right?

Well... actually all that stuff was going on back in the day, too; we just didn't know about it.

According to the Backstreet Boys, the crazy things pop stars do hasn't changed, but the growth of social media has just made us more aware of when Biebs pees his pants or eggs his neighbor's house, as opposed to the Backstreet Boys running around hotels naked.

That's right — the Backstreet Boys did a ton of crazy stuff before the age of Instagram or Twitter, like getting into drunken bar fights and indulging in a fair share of public nudity.

In fact, the boy band said all the stuff they did would make Bieber's infamous antics look tame!

Nick Carter told Elle if social media was around back in the Backstreet Boys' heyday in the late '90s, we would have seen a much different side of the group. He said,

I'll tell you this: There is some shit that AJ [McLean] and I both did that I'm really glad that social media wasn't around for. Because Justin Bieber couldn't hold a candle to what we did.

AJ McLean elaborated, implying he was the craziest of the bunch back in the day,

We would have been like TMZ's saving grace, bro... just anything from me being drunk or irate at a club. Or me walking naked down the hallway in a hotel for no apparent reason.

Thankfully for them (but unfortunately for all you gossip-lovers), all of these supposed crazy stories are known only to the Backstreet Boys, since neither social media or rabid paparazzi were as big back then as they are now.

So now I'm just left wondering what did the Backstreet Boys do back then that would put Biebs to shame!? Do you think they abandoned a monkey in Germany, too??
