Azealia Banks Compared The LGBT Community To The KKK In A Twitter Rant

by Taylor Ortega

Those of you wondering why Azealia Banks hasn't yelled at anyone on Twitter this week can CTFO because, as always, she's back with some sweet controversy for the sake of controversy.

Last week, Banks got into a scuffle on an airplane resulting in her referring to a flight attendant as a “f*cking faggot.”

When critics expressed outrage, Banks responded with a tweet basically functioning as an LGBT version of the guilty white person mantra, “I have black friends.”

Almost a week following the incident and her initial response, Banks continued to work through her feelings on the LGBT community she claims to be a part of.

Initially, the rapper compared the community to an infamous hate group, but then thought "nah" and deleted the tweet.

She then thought "weaklings" seemed a more appropriate qualifier.

All I had to do was say one word and I moved a whole community. What weaklings!!! — AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 28, 2015

Gotta mention the blood moon, though. Keep it current.

Everyone should just buck up and deal with the hate because, hello, Azealia won't hang with a weak ass.

It's your fault gay teens in the Bible Belt face discrimination, TBH.

Take it from AB.

Seriously.

So yes! You CAN call me a nigger and I won't get mad! .... I'd be like "That's all you got???" — AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 28, 2015

For real, people, you never see other oppressed collectives getting up in arms over a few choice words.

Hateful rhetoric may function to keep people oppressed, but only if you let it, am I right?

Words are not tangible things. You all CHOSE to get upset. Remember... Offense is only TAKEN, it is never given. — AZEALIABANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) September 28, 2015

Fans can follow Banks on Twitter for more foolproof logic of the tough-love, pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps approach to respect and equality.
