Ariana Grande may be small, but don't you dare mess with her or her ladies. She will not hold back.

To promote her new album, Dangerous Woman, the pint-sized pop star sat down with Billboard for an interview, and she certainly had a lot of opinions she wanted to share.

In the interview, the singer talks about how her fame changed when she transitioned from Nickelodeon actress to pop superstar, what her new album is all about and her "happy" relationship with backup dancer Ricky Alvarez.

Grande also made sure to talk about her favorite subjects -- female empowerment, feminism and gender equality -- and she got pretty heated about them, to say the least.

She seemed to get the most heated when the topic of women in relationships came up, reportedly referring to one very specific, very public, very loved relationship in particular: Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber.

Ariana is totally on Selena Gomez's side about the whole women-being-defined-by-their-exes thing, aka she wants that to stop RIGHT NOW.

Now, while Ariana doesn't explicitly say whom she's talking about when she gives an example, the interviewer notes she made it pretty obvious she was referring to Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber.

The pop star said,

I'll never be able to swallow the fact that people feel the need to attach a successful woman to a man when they say her name... I saw a headline — draw your own conclusions [on the subjects] because it'll be so much drama that I don't want — they called someone another someone's ex, and that pissed me off. This person has had so many great records in the last year, and she hasn't been dating him forever. Call her by her name!

This isn't the first time Selena's struggle to detach herself from Justin Bieber has come up, and I must say, I think Ariana is right.

Gomez herself has said many times she wishes people asked her about things other than her famous ex, like maybe the three top-10 singles she's had this past year or her new world tour or being literally the most followed person on Instagram.

It's pretty clear Gomez is pretty fed up with the association at this point, but people still don't get the picture.

Maybe Ariana's words will finally get the message through to everyone. JELENA IS OVER, PEOPLE. GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEADS.
