You May Actually Get Dumped If You Have Bad Manners On A Date, Science Says

by Candice Jalili

Food etiquette gets about a million and one times more tricky when it comes to the dating. From whether or not you grab a bite to eat with your one-night stand to what you order if you decide to go for said meal to how you chew on your first date, IT'S JUST SO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT. And what about your manners? Your manners suddenly matter so much more than they did before!

Bad manners on a first date are pretty much the worst thing you could possibly have, as far as I'm concerned. And according to a new study, I'm not the only one who's put off by them.

Check out the results from the Yelp Eat24 study, which looked into men and women's eating habits and it related to dating and one-night stands.

Could your eating habits salt your game on a date?

Apparently, how you eat your food on a first date can make a big difference as to whether or not your date will want to see you again. In fact, according to the survey, 23 percent of men and 20 percent of women have literally turned a date down for having bad eating habits, such as chewing too loudly or chewing with your mouth open.

But, then again, let me point out that means 77 percent of men and 80 percent of women DGAF about how loudly you chew or how much of your food they can see while you're chewing. So if you're completely terrified that your date will dump you for accidentally chewing with your mouth open, rest assured, you may still have a shot.

What kinds of meals are cool for a date with a one-night stand?

All right, so you and your date just did ~the deed~, and now, you're HUNGRY.

Do you wait for your one-night stand to leave before you place your Seamless order? Do you offer them some Seamless? Do you invite them to go out and grab something from down the street with you? UGH, DECISIONS, DECISIONS.

Well, as for the eating thing, don't fret about whether or not to invite your one-night stand with you. The large majority of men (77 percent) and women (64 percent) think it's totally cool for you to invite them to eat with you.

But do you guys eat out or order in? Well, lots of men (42 percent) and women (29 percent) agree that ordering takeout or delivery is the only meal that's cool to share with your one-night stand. That being said, though, 35 percent of men and women think you can eat any sort of meal with your temporary bae.

What kind of food should you order with a one-night stand?

OK, so the two of you decide to order takeout. What do you order?

Well, like any basic girl's favorite meme on Instagram will tell you, pizza is the safest bet you can make. The vast majority of men (76 percent) and women (78 percent) both agree that pizza is the best food to eat during a one-night stand. In fact, men and women agree that a love of pizza will actually make you more attractive to your partner.

Not a big pizza person? Well, ice cream also tends to be a popular choice for men (40 percent), while tacos were a popular second choice for the ladies (41 percent).

So, if you're fretting about whether to invite your one-night stand to eat with you and about what to order if you do, don't worry. You have options. Just be careful of bad food etiquette that might push your date away.
