Angelina Jolie's Governors Awards Speech Will Give You A New Appreciation For Your Life And Family (Video)

There have been many times we have asked ourselves, why us? Why does life so have it that I am here in the US, in my body, in my life, and she is over there in Sudan, in her body, living her life?

We’re not alone. It’s a question even Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie asks herself, and one that she proposed in her amazingly touching Governors Awards speech on Saturday, November 16.

While receiving the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, Jolie paid homage to her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who not only supported her daughter's career driving her to auditions, but who also inspired Jolie to move forward in her humanitarian efforts.

"Above all, she was very clear that nothing would mean anything if I didn't live a life of use to others," Jolie said. "And I didn't know what that meant for a long time. It was only when I began to travel and look and live beyond my home that I understand my responsibility to others."

If you’re looking for a little motivation this morning, or simply need an excuse to cry, check out the actress' acceptance speech. We get to see a side of Angelina Jolie that the tabloids fail to capture.
