This Is Why You Should Start Walking Around The House Naked More Often

by Imani Brammer

One of the best things about being home alone is being able to walk around the house as naked as I please, ass out, with not a single care in this world.

I love it. I feel free, unconfined, unrestricted.

When my clothes come off, I feel like I'm shedding some sort of unnecessary weight in my emotions, as well. Something about my aura just feels lighter.

Apparently, these good naked vibes aren't just in my head -- there may very well be a correlation between nudity and the psyche.

Dr. Keon West, senior lecturer in the psychology department at Goldsmiths University, believes taking your clothes off could be a fantastic way to promote body image satisfaction.

According to a recent study he and his colleagues conducted, which was published in the Journal of Happiness Studies, dissatisfaction with body image is a global issue that impacts life satisfaction overall.

In an online survey, Dr. West asked 850 individuals to answer some questions regarding naturism (aka nudity).

The survey responses demonstrated those who practiced nudity more frequently appeared to be happier.

As someone who has suffered with body image issues for the majority of her life, I can personally vouch for the validity of that conclusion.

I am only just beginning to learn to let go of some of the more shameful emotions I've felt in the past toward my body.

Nowadays, I frequently take more measures to genuinely care for myself, and though I've always been comfortable in the nude, I'm more comfortable with my bare body now than ever before.

Having said that, it's important to note, though the findings from this study show a relationship between nudity and an increase in body-image satisfaction, this doesn't explicitly mean nudity itself increases happiness.

It could also mean those who were most comfortable with the their bodies consequentially felt the least discomfort when they were nude.

This research is not yet conclusive, however, though Dr. West believes it's worth furthering exploration on the topic.

And he isn't alone.

According to Live Science, naked yoga has been shown to help tremendously with self-esteem.

Now, does this necessarily mean someone can downward-dog and see straight into your crotch and you'd be totally OK with it?

Not sure, but I'm going to go with a hard no there.

But still, your self-confidence does get a bit of a boost from practicing yoga this way, as it basically forces you to be vulnerable and authentic, and it can even allow you to feel metaphorically free from the constraints of life.

Hey, I don't doubt it. Like I said, that's exactly why I enjoy dancing through the house with my ass out.

The less clothes I have on, the better I feel, the happier I am, and the happier you'd probably be, too.

Don't knock it 'til you try it, you feel me?
