Being a referee for any professional sport is not an easy job. For one you have to deal with the constant bickering with players and fans from both sides which is pressure enough when making tough calls during matches.

Then there is the safety risk factor of not only in-game collisions but violence from players if they disagree with your calls.

And unfortunately for refs everywhere, we have seen these acts of reckless violence one too many times before.
