I know it's late Friday afternoon, but before everyone runs out of the office to enjoy the weekend, we need to take a moment to talk about the racist, hate-fueled letter Denver Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall just received.
As VICE SPORTS points out, the letter, which Marshall posted on his Instagram account, contains twice as many slurs as it does any other words.
This letter is violent, dangerous and irresponsible, and I warn you now, it will be disturbing to read in its entirety.
However, we cannot turn a blind eye because we don't like what we're looking at.
A pathetic, racist, misinformed individual sent the following letter to Brandon Marshall, and I urge you to read the document in full.
WARNING: The following letter contains extremely strong and offensive language.
The letter, in its entirety, reads,
Hello Mr Marshall How are you? You are a great football player Mr Marshall, no you are not! You are a worthless fucking nigger who is a spoiled fucking jigaboo!! If you are so unhappy with America, turn in your "millions" and move back to the jungle, you fucking gorilla/monkey!! We hate you and your "kind of niggers!! You black fucking porch monkey. Your name should be Sasabo. Your time is coming, watch out Nigger!! Go back to Africa you "mud puppet" You give a bad name to good black folk by your jigaboo actions. We are "channeling" a devastating hard hit for you!! Something to make you an invalid in a wheel chair!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha Watch out nigga it's a comin!
You don't need me to tell you how fucked up this is, the words speak for themselves.
Marshall captioned the above post with the following message:
The hatred by some against people of color is one of the reasons we are where we're at in the world today, and they wonder why we feel the way we do and take the stances that we take. I received this letter at work.
VICE SPORTS speculates Marshall may have received this racist letter because he took a knee during the National Anthem earlier this season.
Apparently, the Denver Broncos are currently investigating the origin of the letter. Asked about the racist letter, Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said,
Our organization is on top of it.... That's all I can tell you.
I sincerely hope so, Mr. Kubiak.
