This Teen Asked A Student With A Disability To Prom In The Most Amazing Way

by Eitan Levine

High schoolers normally suck, but this story is arguably the most heartwarming thing to happen on the Internet this week.

Ben Davis, 16, assumed he would attend a normal pep rally at Everett High School on Friday when he got the surprise of a lifetime: an epic "promposal" from fellow student Vee Nguyen.

In a now-viral Facebook post, Nguyen wrote she met David, who suffers from pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN), two years ago.

"I'll ask you to prom when pigs fly" And he said Yes! I met Ben Davis two years ago and ever since then we became... Posted by Vee Nguyen on Friday, February 5, 2016

Nguyen told the Detroit Free Press the two became friends while she was working with a school program for students with special needs.

She also told reporters she asked Ben to prom at a pep rally because she wanted it to be a public statement and hopes her promposal serves as inspiration to fellow classmates. She said,

Appearance will eventually get old, but personality is what make a person beautiful. And if everyone could look past the physical appearance every time they meet someone, this world would be a better place.

Way to not be a typical high school teen, Vee!
