Starbucks Is Adding Ice Cream To The Menu
Starbucks has quickly become the go-to spot for anyone with a coffee obsession and an undeniable sweet tooth (aka me).
To be completely honest, I didn't think it was possible for its menu to get any more delicious than it already is, but boy, was I wrong.
Coffee-lovers, brace yourselves for the news that'll change the way you eat dessert on the go.
Starbucks is adding ice cream to its menu, and it's the perfect combination of ice cream and espresso.
That's right: Our beloved coffee chain is adding ice cream to the menu, and if it tastes as good as its seasonal lattes do, we're in for a treat.
Go ahead, do a happy dance. It's most definitely called for right now.
Before you run to your closest Starbucks, allow me to give you the scoop -- no pun intended.
It's been reported the highly anticipated ice cream will be sold on Starbucks' Roastery Affogato menu, which will merge the worlds of ice cream and espresso.
According to Business Insider, the menu will appear this week in Los Angeles, Boston and Washington, DC -- but it'll eventually be available in over 100 Starbucks across the US, so hang tight for your turn.
Like most Starbucks item names, the term "affogato" seems fancy AF, but its meaning will make your mouth water.
The term "affogato" means "drowned" when translated from Italian to English, and Starbucks' affogato-style dessert is just vanilla ice cream drenched in steamy espresso.
So now, we can have coffee and dessert at the same time! PERFECT.
The affogato on the new cold menu at Starbucks comes in three different forms: the Classic Affogato, the House Affogato and the Shakerato Affogato.
As expected, the Classic Affogato is made by pouring two shots of Starbucks espresso over the ice cream, while the House Affogato adds a touch of demerera syrup and cinnamon to the mix.
The Shakerato Affogato is made by shaking the espresso until chilled, pouring it over the ice cream and adding vanilla syrup and mint.
Other ice cream options on the upcoming Starbucks menu are the Cold Brew Float (made from pouring cold brew over ice cream), and the Cold Brew Malted Shake.
Once the menu comes out in a Starbucks near me, I'm going to have to cheat on Ben & Jerry's for a little while and give the affogato a try.
