What To Do On A First Date, Based On Your Date's Zodiac Sign

Completely at a loss for where to take your far-out Aquarian crush? Baffled by what to do on a first date with a Gemini? Have no fear. While each zodiac sign has a long list of things they would never, ever want to do on a first date, the cosmos offer a lot of information about the things that they might enjoy. Think about the qualities of each sign to figure out how you can have a date that is fun, stimulating, and comfortable for both of you, and you're both set for a great time. Remember, air signs value communication, earth signs feel rooted in food and materiality, fire signs need passion and stimulation, and water signs run over with emotion.

Shy Cancer is going to feel and behave much differently on a first date than speedy and passionate Aries, for example, so if you're worried about living up to their expectations, just ask them how they are enjoying themselves mid-way through the date. If they aren't having fun, you can always switch up locations or ask them if they have a different suggestion. As much information as the astrological calendar can offer, it's also up to each one of us to make our own choices about how we want to spend our time. These suggestions are just the beginning.

Aries (March 21 To April 10): Go Rock Climbing

Adventurous Aries adores a physical activity on their first date. They're also a bit of a show boat, and they love showing off their prowess. The first fire sign is brimming with energy and passion and will quickly fall in love with those who give them space to let loose — especially if you challenge them to race you up the rock wall.

Taurus (April 21 To May 21): Make Them A Fancy Dinner

Taurus loves comfort and eating, but isn't one to be impressed if you take them out to a fancy restaurant. Rooted to the hearth, Taurus will respect you if you can both feed them and make them feel welcome in your space. Cook them something elaborate and delicious to find your way through their stomach and straight to their heart.

Gemini (May 21 To June 21): Drinks And Dancing

Flirty, fun-loving Gemini adores nothing more than a night out on the town. Give them an opportunity to dress up and strut their stuff, and be sure to tell them how good they look while they're doing it. Gemini highly values communication and definitely needs to know that they are admired.

Cancer (June 21 To July 22): Night At The Movies

Shy Cancer gets super nervous before a first date and will feel safe and secure if they have a chance to disappear inside of a dark movie theater for a while. They like to take things slow, so don't expect them to start making out with you when the credits roll. If you want to show them affection, Cancer will appreciate a squeeze of their hand.

Leo (July 23 To August 22): Head To The Rollerskating Rink

Flashy and gregarious Leo will want to do something fun and eccentric on their first date. Strapping on a pair of rollerblades or ice skates will also help this proud lion let down their guard. This joyous fire sign will definitely laugh at you if you go slip-sliding. Be a good sport, and laugh along.

Virgo (August 23 To September 22): Do A DIY Project

Virgo likes to be productive, and this hands-on earth sign won't like being idle, even on a first date. A Virgo is the kind of person who will put together an IKEA shelf and call it a good time. If you don't have any menial household tasks for them to complete, take Virgo to a pottery class. Don't forget to tell them how long it is going to take — a Virgo's most prized relationship is with their schedule.

Libra (September 23 To October 22): Go To A Concert

Libra loves listening to music. Taking them out to a show or another performance gives them a space where they can indulge their intellectual spirit, and gush about the high points of the set. In the warmer months, make it an outdoor show and bring a picnic blanket and a spread of food for your luxurious Libra to feel right at home.

Scorpio (October 23 To November 22): Walk In A Cemetery

Scorpios take a while to warm up to their dates, and they love when the person they are seeing can get right into the dark and heavy stuff. If you want to keep it light and not immediately plunge into your own relationship with mortality, ask your Scorpio if they know how to find any ghosts, and find your way to their heart by initiating a conversation about the underworld.

Sagittarius (November 23 To December 21): Hit The Club

Wide-roaming Sagittarius will love dancing up on you and other people, and watching you do the same. To date this fire sign, you're going to need to show them that they can continue to explore while still in a close bond with you. If they bump and grind on someone else too hard, it doesn't mean they're not interested. It just means that they are still getting to know you.

Capricorn (December 22 To January 19): Happy Hour Cocktails

The first thing to know about Capricorn is that they always have weekend plans, and it usually involves some amount of work. Keep the first weeknight encounter short, and meet up somewhere that's convenient for them. Then, let them make the next move. Capricorns are solid earth signs, and if they want you, they'll always come through.

Aquarius (January 20 To February 18): Go To The Planetarium

Spaced-out Aquarius loves any opportunity to think about other planets and the stars. Taking a trip out of town isn't enough for this air sign — they need to get off the planet. They'll probably say something irreverent and completely nonsensical on your first date, too, but roll with them. Aquarius needs to know that you get what's going on in their head, even if you need a little time to learn their language first.

Pisces (February 19 To March 20): Take A Trip To A Natural History Museum

Sensitive Pisces adores imagining, and visual stimulation is super important to their dreamscapes. Stimulate their imagination by taking them to a crystal gallery and watch them wander through the gorgeous gems. Pisces is the wise child of the zodiac, and age will never let them lose their sense of pretend. Play along with them, and whether or not you have a second date, you will have a friend for life.
