Tracee Ellis Ross Was Snubbed By The Golden Globes & Twitter Is Pissed
Another awards season, another set of snubbed performances. The 2018 Golden Globe nominations were announced Monday, Dec. 11, and all fans can talk about right now is all of the epic snubs in this year's list. Seriously, these snubs are pretty baffling. Lady Bird, the highest-reviewed movie of all time on Rotten Tomatoes, didn't get Greta Gerwig a Best Director nomination. Jordan Peele wasn't nominated for directing Get Out. The Big Sick and Wonder Woman weren't nominated for anything, but Dunkirk got several nominations. Tracee Ellis Ross' Golden Globes snub for Black-ish also has fans pissed, seeing as she literally won a Golden Globe for the same role last year.
Yup, Ross won the 2017 Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series for her role as Rainbow Johnson on ABC's hit comedy, but apparently her work this season hasn't been the same caliber? Calling bullsh*t on this one, Golden Globes! And to those who would say, "Well, she won last year, so it's time to give other actresses a chance!" Claire Foy also won in the Best Actress, Drama category last year and she's nominated again this year. So, there's space for Ross on this list.
Fans are not pleased. Not one bit.
Ross gave a beautiful speech when she won the 2017 Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series.
In her speech, she said,
This is for all the women, women of color, and colorful people whose stories, ideas, thoughts are not always considered worthy and valid and important. But I want you to know that I see you. We see you. It is an honor to be on this show ... to continue expanding the way we are seen and known, and to show the magic and the beauty and the sameness of a story and stories that are outside where the industry usually looks.
