'This Is Us' Season 2 Ep. 2 Looks Like It Will Be About Beth & Randall & We're Thrilled

The first episode of the second season of This Is Us was a doozy of information, tears, and shockers, so what will the second episode behold? According to This Is Us Season 2 Episode 2 spoilers, everyone's favorite "perfectly imperfect" couple, Beth and Randall, will face more challenges and triumphs as time progresses.

Last week, the episode "A Father's Advice" showed the pair that spawned dozens of #couplesgoals hashtags struggling with the possibility of adoption. Randall was all in and Beth was, well, a little more realistic and skeptical. She sees her husband's need to adopt a newborn as a desire to mirror his own experience. They talk and hug it out, remind us why they're the greatest, and decide to compromise by considering taking in an older child without a lot of other chances who really needs them. "If you really want to do this, if you really want to risk our perfectly imperfect life for something, let’s go all the way, " she explained. "Let’s take in an older kid who no one else in the whole damn world is gonna help." Yup - even more evidence Beth's wisdom knows no bounds. Always listen to Beth, guys. But what's next for these two?

Tuesday's episode "A Manny-Splendored Thing," will find the Pearsons in LA for a special "Manny" taping. Wait, what? That sounds pleasant enough, but this is This Is Us we're talking about... It looks like Beth and Randall are still coming to terms with their new life choices, and apparently Randall's the one who's stalling on future plans now. In TV Guide's exclusive clip from the episode, the Type A-er has yet to fill out his foster care paperwork. What's the hold-up, Randall? "The questions are so personal," he remarks.

While the happily-married duo joke around and share laughs between all those tears, their road isn't always without bumps. Susan Kelechi-Watson (Beth) told TVLine last spring that even though they have dealt with William's death and the pain it inflicted, that event was really just the beginning for Randall. “This chapter, of course, has come to an end. But the door is still open for more things to change, especially as Randall begins to find who he is now that his father’s gone… something that reflects Randall and honors not just William, but his whole journey," she revealed.

The recently-released This Is Us promo's sneak peek is practically non-existent and more of a mini-recap of what we've seen, but we do get to watch Beth tell Randall: "You and me, we can do anything." Yeah, ya can!

Not enough? Here's a photo of them embracing to make your day better.

They're not the only couple going through something, good or bad. Sophie and Kevin will be sitting down for a chat in the upcoming episode as well. Trouble in long-distance paradise?

What's that we spy? A semi-smiling Jack? Honestly, we'll take any situation where Jack and smile is in the same sentence. Last week's emotional house fire reveal was so much to take in and it looks like we'll be getting more breadcrumbs that clarify the situation throughout the season.

Creator Dan Fogelman revealed to Entertainment Weekly that those final telling moments of episode 1 were just the riddle (or 5...) surrounding Jack's death beginning to unfold. "There are five big mysteries, as I see it, at the end. Clearly, the house is a big mystery. Was he in the house? Was he out of the house? What exactly transpired on that night? They’re staying at Miguel’s. That’s interesting," he explained.

Oh, man. So much to unpack as we go on this time-jumping Pearson journey.

One thing that's not a mystery: Beth and Randall are one of TV's greatest couples right now. And we can't wait to see what's in store for them tonight and as the show progresses.
