The Best Time To Start A Relationship In October 2017 Is During The Next New Moon

With every new moon, a new cycle begins as the moon grows toward fullness. That next cycle begins with the new moon in Libra on Oct. 19, 2017. This cycle offers us the opportunity to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of Libra. These include the ability to negotiate without compromising our principles or needs, or resorting to people pleasing while sacrificing our desires. This new moon is a time to re-balance relationships, and work with partners as teammates rather than adversaries. Libra's energy at this time is especially potent, as is its planetary ruler Venus, the planet of love, beauty and creativity, making this the perfect time to start a new relationship in October 2017, or take a relationship to the next level.

Libra is a (hopelessly) romantic sign, so if you've been involved with someone for some time already, this new moon is the perfect opportunity for you to consider where you might have set expectations for your partner a little too high, and where you're willing to compromise for the sake of the relationship itself. What do you need to do to improve the quality of your bond?

Make Peace With Chaos

Libras have an innate ability to synthesize opposing forces for the sake of creating balance in their lives and relationships, and the new moon is a time for planting the seeds for new beginnings. If there's an area of your life where you feel you lack acceptance of the way things are, now is the time to accept.

Perhaps you've made a list of qualities you want in a partner, and you've been manifesting the "perfect" man/woman you want to settle down with. The problem with that is you could be limiting yourself with rigidity. At the time of this new moon, make peace with the chaos. Accept that the universe is bringing you someone who is most likely as complicated and wonderful as you are.

Expansive Jupiter Has Gifts On The Way

Jupiter, the planetary ruler of expansion — aka the "giver of gifts" — moved into the sign of Libra on Sept. 9. When Jupiter (or any planet) moves into a sign, it does its planetary duty under that sign's influence.

For instance, If Mars (the planet of action) moved into Libra (the sign of partnerships and creativity), we would all feel motivated to seek out a partner in an active way, or to get out there and start dating again.

However, with Jupiter, we don't need to work so hard. Jupiter brings the opportunities to us, and all we have to do is say yes. With Jupiter in the sign of Libra, the opportunities to begin new relationships will come in the form of social events, creative projects, or work partnerships. Keep an eye out for these things around the time of the new moon on Oct. 19.

Creating The Right Intention For The New Moon

It would take me hours to go into all the astrological aspects of this new moon, but I will say that a major theme is relationships. So instead of babbling some astrological jargon, let me break it down for you in simple terms that everyone can understand — astrology lovers and novices alike — by explaining the best intentions you could set for this new moon.

Think about where your relationships could be improved. Where are you willing to compromise, and what "annoying" qualities are you willing to forgive in a person? What areas of your life have you been too rigid in, and where would you benefit from taking a more flexible, team-oriented approach?

The Best Time To Set A New Moon Intention

New Moon intentions are like the Plan B pill. The best time to set your intention is at the exact point when the new moon happens, or within 24 hours after. To find out the exact time to set your intention, here's a guide for when the new moon is occurring in your time zone.

Stick to this guide for the most potent time to sit down and do your ritual, even if it's just sitting in silence for five minutes and envisioning your intentions.
