4 Ideas For Playing Hookie And What To Wear With Each

By

Dare we confess that sometimes, following the rules doesn’t always get you that far? I’ll be the first to admit that I spent the first few years of my career making sure everything I did was perfect — I had to arrive to the office early, I had to ask my manager permission for everything, and I had to make sure my outfit was always on point (like sporting heels, even with a foot injury … massive mistake). To be honest, after a while, all those “had-to's” got tiring, and I realized I wasn’t necessarily furthering my career by following them.

What took me time to learn is that sometimes bending the rules, or not following them perfectly, can actually inspire your best ideas and adventures. Which is why taking the day off from responsibilities — be it work, school, or otherwise — can sometimes be the best decision you can make. It can refresh your whole outlook and push you to think outside of the box. That’s why we teamed up with Tease Rebel — Victoria Secret’s edgy new fragrance — to bring you four fun ideas for when you’re playing hookie (and exactly what to wear for each).

A Shopping Day With the Girls

Proof that it can be good to be bad: Take the day off to spend time with the gals while going around town shopping the best sales. (If you’re having a rough week, retail therapy does work!). Start your look with a few spritzes of Tease Rebel, a new edgy floral fragrance with notes of wild rose, violets, and white leather that happen to clash perfectly. When it comes to clothing, stay edgy yet comfortable in layers that are just right: jeans and a silky top look sleek, while a moto jacket adds warmth and a rebel-without-a-cause vibe.

Movie-Hopping With Bae

Okay, we’re not saying you should do it all the time, but marathoning an entire day’s worth of flicks at the local cineplex can fill you with teenage nostalgia and make you feel awesomely indulgent. (Plus, all that quality time with your S.O. as you hop from theater to theater is ridiculously fun). To wear: skinnies and a ruffled crop top that will cause you to cuddle close in the chilly theater. Don’t forget a stylish bag that can stash everything from candy to food from your favorite takeout spot.

A Final Interview for a Dream Job

Being on point in a final interview is often the key to landing the job of your dreams. The problem? It’s hard to keep your cool at your current office while jetting out for a “lunch appointment.” With the whole day off, you won’t be stressed about running to and from — in heels, no less. Dress to impress in a sheath dress with eye-catching extras (think: earrings, necklace, and a structured tote).

A (Much-Needed) Mental Health Day

Once in a while, everyone needs a day off mid-week to get their bearings (we won’t tell). Since self-care needs to come first, email your boss, set your out-of-office and do whatever chills you out (binge-watching TV, taking a bath, or catching some much-needed zzz's — or all three). Relax in satin PJs, a luxe robe, and fuzzy slippers that will make you feel like you’re on cloud nine. You deserve it.
