The Best Captions For Your Thirst Traps, Because Words Matter

by Alison Segel

Ahh, the delicate art of thirst trapping. You know, throwin' up provocative pics on the Internet when you're in desperate need of attention, or, perhaps, just feel good about yourself and want the world to know. However, the thing about thirst traps is that they are rather transparent (everyone knows what you're up to when you're posting), and that can make the whole scenario a little sad...to people who are judgey at least. But, with appropriate thirst trap captions, you can really up the ante on your Instagram pics so that they're less thirst and more trap. You know what I'm saying?

Because the last thing you want to do is come off as too desperate on the 'gram. I guess? I mean, you shouldn't care what people think about you anyway. But a caption can really make or break what a thirst trap has to offer. The best traps I've seen know how to take a great picture and pair it with a funny caption (or maybe some song lyrics?) to really drive the message home.

But what kind of captions are they? And what song lyrics are you supposed to use? And can I throw in an inspirational quote here and there?

Because personally, there's nothing I like better than when a girl posts a bikini selfie, and then captions it with a bible verse. I am being VERY SERIOUS. I think that is social media artwork that belongs in The Louvre. I also like when a man is flexing in the mirror and then is like "thinking about my grandmother today. She was super important to me growing up." To me, the caption makes the thirst trap.

But if it doesn't come naturally to you, don't fret, I'm here to help. So here are some captions to use when you're thirst trapping, because words really do matter — especially when you're pairing them with a selfie.

1. "No filter."

2. "All the filters."

3. "A girl can do what she wants to do." — Joan Jett

4. "Man, I feel like a woman." — Shania Twain

5. "It me."

6. "Bow down."

7. "Why should I be unhappy? Every parcel of my being is in full bloom." — Rumi

8. "Shorty, what yo' name is?" — Beyoncé, "Video Phone"

9. "A/S/L?"

10. "Hi."

11. "Reminder that I'm the cutest."

12. "I'm in my own lane, you ain't in my category." — Nicki Minaj, "HOV Lane"

13. "U Up?"

14. "On my worst behavior." — Drake, "Worst Behavior"

15. "Feeling good."

16. "Trying to get a slim Fit Tea sponsorship."

17. "Thoughts?"

18. "Parched."

19. "You're doing amazing sweetie." — Kris Jenner

20. "You must not know 'bout me." — Beyoncé, "Irreplaceable"

21. "I'm moving on, I'm getting paid." — Halsey, "Don't Play"

So if you're looking for a caption for that thirst trap pic you just uploaded everywhere, give one of these a try. There's bound to be something that will really take your pic to the next level. Then, once you post that trap, wait for the DMs, comments, and texts to flood your inbox. Because that's totally the only reason why you uploaded that pic in the first place, right? For attention, and not possibly because you feel confident and good about yourself and want to display that proudly to the world? There's no way that could be it! No way! LOL!
