10 Interesting Questions To Ask Someone Over Text Before You Meet Them IRL

Texting before you meet in real life can sometimes be the most fun part of dating. It's where all the magic is fostered. You can figure out if you have things in common and establish a witty rapport... or at least try to. So you might be wondering, hey, what are some of these questions to ask your crush before you actually meet in real life to help that magic grow?

Well, I have answers, because I am totally an expert in phone-related communication. Texting is one of my favorite hobbies, next to doing a lot of volunteer work, reading really hard books, and engaging in other intellectual stuff. It is where I excel. It's the in-person meeting where I could use some improvement. Plus, messaging is fun, flirty, and has very low stakes. You can be yourself and let your freak flag fly. Throw your crush a meme or a GIF or two, and see if they can keep up with you. Because if they can't, are they even worth making it to date one? (Probably yes, don't base your whole relationship off texting.)

So here are some questions to ask someone over text before you meet them IRL. Because why not keep things interesting, right?

1. Do You Back Into Parking Spaces?

I am convinced only sociopaths do this, FYI. It's so inconvenient and egotistical. Why are you doing this? Who are you showing off for?

I once dated a guy who would back into parking spaces on dates, and I eventually had to break up with him. It was just too stressful. Just park like a normal person!

2. What Hogwarts House Would You Be In?

I would be a proud Slytherin. Sue me.

3. Do You Have A Favorite Color, Or Are You A Grownup?

Hot take: Adults don't have favorite colors. If your crush has a favorite color, that's a problem. You might be getting catfished by a kindergartener.

4. Would You Ever Drink Hot Coffee On A Hot Day?

Drinking hot coffee on a hot day is pathological. If your crush doesn't go for iced coffee when it's sweltering out, IMO, they are a sociopath. I once asked this question to a man and he said, "No! I'd never do that! I drink hot tea," which was absolutely worse.

5. If You Could Have One Wish, What Would It Be?

This is very telling, and you'll get to see how creative your crush can get. Usually, I'd claim that if they say "world peace," your Tinder match is trying to impress you, but the world climate is such a mess right now that they just might mean it.

6. Have You Ever Had A Threesome?

I'm an ignorance-is-bliss kind of gal and don't want to imagine the guy I like with anyone else. But if you're curious, then ask. Why not? See how sexually adventurous your crush is before you jump into the sack, or a relationship, with them.

7. What Was Your College Major?

Because what if it was something weird or unexpected? Always a good topic of conversation.

8. Red Or Green Apples?

Green apples are sour and gross as f*ck. Don't mess with someone who likes green apples.

9. What Was The Last Book You Read?

This is a great way to find out if your crush knows how to read. Plus, there's that great John Waters saying: "If you go home with somebody, and they don't have books, don't fuck 'em!”

10. What Do You Like About Me?

Because that's the only question you actually want to know the answer to, right?
