Teacher Faces 22 Years In Prison For Having Sex With Four Students

A high school math teacher has admitted to having sex with four students who were aged 16 to 18.

According to Fredericksburg.com, prosecutor Andrea Stewart claims the Sheriff 's Office began to hear rumors last year about a teacher at Virginia's Colonial Forge High School being sexually involved with students.

School officials eventually received a tip from an anonymous source notifying them geometry and statistics teacher Erica Mesa, 28, had allegedly had sex with a male student. The officials then confronted Mesa about it.

Mesa confessed to Stafford Detective Sgt. Chris Cameron shortly after and was arrested and jailed on September 29.

Mesa was only convicted and charged for having sex with two students at the time, but she soon revealed she had two more student partners.

All but one of the boys were 18 during the sexual relationships.

That student was 16 years old when he began having sex with Mesa in 2013.

Mesa allegedly sent naked pictures of herself to one student and had sex with another victim on his 18th birthday in the commuter lot on Courthouse Road.

The majority of the encounters occurred in Mesa's home where she lived with her husband at the time, Keith Mesa, who teaches social studies at Colonial Forge High School.

Mesa and Keith were married in July of 2012 only to see the union end as a result of her activities.

Mesa also told police she once had sex with a student in her home while another waited in the basement to have sex with her immediately after, Daily Mail reports.

She explained to authorities she committed these acts because they made her feel "attractive and wanted."

Mesa, who taught at Colonial Forge since 2009, pleaded guilty on Friday to two counts of electronic solicitation of a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Her attorney requested Mesa be released until she appears in court on May 21, but was denied by Judge Victoria Willis.

She faces up to 22 years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender.
