Researchers Have Confirmed These Are The Sexiest Accents In The World

There's a reason you can't look away from James Bond, and it's not because of Daniel Craig's abs: A new Time Out survey shows British accents are the sexiest in the world.

Something happened to us the moment characters like Mr. Darcy and Bond hit the silver screen, even though most real Brits don't have the crisp, aristocratic English accents we've come to expect from bodice-ripping romances.

The British charmer is very real in the hearts of men and women in 12 of the world's largest cities, according to a whopping 27 percent of the more than 11,000 people polled.

British popularity is closely followed by the popularity of American, Irish, French and Italian accents. This is clearly a generation raised on Euro-tripping Mary-Kate and Ashley movies.

Whether they have drawl or brogue, these accents each received between 8.7 and 6 percent of the total votes.

Slightly less popular were Spanish, Scottish, Latin American and Scandinavian accents, which all edged into the top 10 with 3 to 5 percent of the Time Out vote.

And although 11,000 is hardly representative of the 7.2 billion people on Earth, Time Out's overarching survey is an interesting take on what it's like to be dating in a global age.
