Guy Surprises GF With Photo Shoot Proposal Where They Had First Date (Video)

by Gillian Fuller

Artist Justin Bettman is best known for his #SetInTheStreet photo project, in which he builds detailed sets out of found materials in urban landscapes and leaves them up for pedestrians to interact with.

But now, the New York-based creator can add another skill to his resume: proposal planner.

Earlier this year, Bettman received an email from a man named Jose, who wanted the artist's help planning a surprise Valentine's Day proposal for his girlfriend.

Jose asked the artist to build one of his sets for the proposal on the waterfront in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where he and his girlfriend had their first date.

Once the set was finally completed about six weeks later, Jose pretended he'd been recruited to participate in a photo shoot for the artist, and invited his girlfriend to come along as the female model.

As Bettman snapped photos of (and sneakily filmed) the pair, Jose knelt down on one knee and popped the question.

You have to see this creative proposal for yourself to truly understand how special it was.
