Guy Finds Out He's Babysitting An Abducted Child Thanks To Amber Alert

by Sean Levinson

A couple in Washington state didn't know they had been babysitting a kidnapped child until they saw an Amber Alert the next day.

According to KOMO News, Renton's John Truong was asked by his sister on Tuesday to watch her boyfriend's son as a favor.

She reportedly told Truong they were going out and wouldn't be back until the following morning when they would pick up the 2-year-old.

Truong and his wife described the boy as being no trouble at all.

Truong said,

He was a great kid. He didn't cry much or anything. He enjoyed my dog's company and my children's company.

He awoke Wednesday morning to see an Amber Alert posted on his Facebook stream -- it was for the child who was sleeping in his home.

Truong's sister suddenly stopped responding to her brother's text messages.

He immediately called the police, who came and took custody of the boy and revealed he had been abducted by Truong's sister, Alyssa M. Chang.

Police say Chang along with the child's grandmother went to the home of the boy's mother and Tasered her.

They then allegedly tied the mother up in the garage and brought the boy to Truong.

The mother was able to break free, however, and ran next door to tell a neighbor what happened.

She did not suffer any serious injuries.

Chang has been arrested and is currently being held on $250,000 bail.

She faces charges for kidnapping, assault and unlawful imprisonment.

Truong told KOMO News,

I feel like she was just helping her boyfriend out and just got into this horrible situation. We're family people, this is definitely not like this. Honestly I'm at a loss for words right now. It's just crazy.

Upon finding out she was being searched for, the grandmother voluntarily turned herself in at the police station.

Her charges were not disclosed.
