66-Year-Old Man Finds Out He Is Actually A Woman After Visiting Hong Kong Doctor

A 66-year-old Chinese man went to the doctor with a swollen stomach and found out that he is actually a woman.

The person has a beard and has lived his entire life as a man, but the doctors in Hong Kong insist that his swollen stomach was in fact caused by an ovarian cyst.

The doctors ran further tests upon this jaw-dropping discovery and found out that the patient suffers from two rare genetic disorders that had gone undiagnosed.

The first disease is known as Turner Syndrome, which affects roughly 1 in 2,000 baby girls. The second is congenital adrenal hyperplasia, which affects 1 in 15,000 baby girls.

According to The Hong Kong Medical Journal, there have only been six reported cases of people having both disorders.

Turner Syndrome typically results from a chromosome malfunction and prevents fertility and physical growth to a normal height. Women with Turner Syndrome are missing one or just a part of their second X chromosome.

The patient was reportedly just 4.5 feet tall and had stopped growing at the age of 10.

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia causes an overabundance of male hormones, hence the patient's beard and male physical features. Doctors said the patient had no testes and an incredibly small, hardly noticeable penis.

Yet the patient had normal female reproductive organs, so despite the penis and beard, the patient is technically a woman.

Doctors, however, said that the Vietnam-born patient could continue to live as a man and be treated with testosterone replacement therapy.
