Twitter announced the update last month.
It was part of a number of changes the microblogging site planned to carry out to stay on top of the social media game.
It also removed photos and usernames from character count to give us more words to play with.
Twitter faces some big time competition from Snapchat, which recently overtook the company in user numbers. As of this month, 150 million people use Snapchat every day. This is 10 million more than Twitter.
