Trudy Hill, a 32-year-old high school teacher in San Jose, California, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly sending naked photos to a student who she has been having oral sex with for months, Mercury News reports.
According to police, Hill was having sexual relations with the 17-year-old from August to November. They claim she has used her authoritative position to their carry out the illegal romance.
Sgt. Enrique Garcia of San Jose police commented on the crime. He reportedly stated,
Hill used her position of authority to exploit the victim into a sexual relationship.
Hill's case is suspicious because most of her ratings on RateMyTeachers.com were extremely positive, calling her "The best English teacher at SI." She even achieved a 4.2 rating.
However, amongst the positive feedback the Santa Teresa High School teacher received, there was one review that raises a red flag.
In the one-star review, the student claims that Mrs. Hill is "always on her phone."
After reportedly "surrendering" to detectives San Jose Police Department about her suspected crime, the phone comment makes more sense.
The entire review reads,
Ms. Hill, is not the best teacher there is. She does not teach anything but spends most of her time talking about her life. She is always on her phone. You will pass.
Since Hill was caught in her explicit endeavors with her minor student, East Side Union High School District released a statement that expresses their astonishment.
We are shocked and deeply disturbed by these allegations. We want to assure the community that the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority.
According to Mercury News, the school also stated they would provide assistance to the victim and his family.
As of right now, only one student has been identified as a victim involved in Mrs. Hill's sexual relations, but police aren't denying the possibility that there might be others.
The teacher has been placed on leave and charged for sending harmful matter to a minor and having oral copulation with a minor.
