This past June, our entire country felt for the victims of one the worst mass shootings in US history. At Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, 53 people were killed and another 49 were wounded.

Angel Colon was one of the wounded victims. The Zumba instructor sustained injuries from six gunshots to different parts of his body. He barely escaped with his life.

Just over two months later, he has taken his first steps without assistance. Colon uploaded the heartwarming video earlier this week. You can see it below.

Along with the clip he writes,

Ahhhh Took my first Steps all by Myself!!!!!! SO HAPPY!!! #OrlandoStrong #AngelStrong #LoveIsLove

At a press conference, Colon recounted what happened to him during the shooting. First, he was shot three times and fell to the ground, shattering his leg. He said the gunman was firing shots at people who were already on the ground, making sure they were dead.

First, he was shot three times and fell to the ground, shattering his leg. He said the gunman was firing shots at people who were already on the ground, to make sure they were dead.

He said,

So I don't know how, but by the glory of God, he shoots toward my head but it hits my hand, and then he shoots me again and it hits the side of my hip. I had no reaction. I was just prepared to just stay there lying down so he won't know that I'm alive.

Later, an officer found Colon and had to drag his body through broken glass to get him out of there and to a hospital.

It's amazing to see a smile on his face as he takes his first steps alone since the tragedy in Orlando. We truly admire his strength.
