A 43-year-old was convicted of killing her husband and his live-in mistress in a bizarre love triangle case.

Ann Marie Anastasi of Lothian in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, will be sentenced next year after Anthony Anastasi Jr., 40, was found fatally shot and 25-year-old Jacqueline Riggs dead with multiple stab wounds in the home they all shared in October 2015.

The trio were in a relationship, according to prosecutors. But things turned sour when her husband began to live with Riggs in the basement.

Anastasi was accused of conspiring to kill the couple with her 13-year-old daughter and her daughter's boyfriend, reports the Capital Gazette.

Sara Anastasi was charged as a juvenile, but details of her case are unclear at this stage.

Her boyfriend, Gabriel Ezekiel Struss, 18, pleaded guilty back in June to two counts of first-degree murder.

The killings were carefully planned.

The body of Anthony was found in the master bedroom on October 5, 2015. A handgun had been placed on the bed next to him.

Anastasi told the police her husband had committed suicide.

This claim was later foiled when forensic examiners found gunshot residue on Anastasi's clothing. In addition, the bullet removed from the victim's head did not match the casing found on the bed.

The body of Riggs was found in the basement. Police discovered the murder weapon nearby.

Police interviews concluded the suspects' information to be misleading.

Anastasi entered Alford pleas to two counts of first-degree murder and a gun charge.

An Alford plea is seen as a guilty plea in the eyes of the law but allows the defendant to maintain their innocence.

She will be sentenced in March.

Struss is due to be sentenced in February.

It is not known how long the trio had been engaging in the bizarre relationship.
