Former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle was reportedly brutally beaten by an inmate at the Colorado prison where he is serving out his sentence.

According to TMZ, 60-year-old Steven Nigg attacked Fogle, 38, in a recreational area at the Federal Correctional Institute, Englewood on January 29. Fogle was left with a bloody nose, swollen face and scratches on his neck after sustaining a series of punches to the face, TMZ reports.

Nigg, a convicted armed robber, was placed in solitary confinement as punishment, according to reports.

Relatives of Nigg told TMZ he targeted Fogle due to his anger over child molesters being placed in low-security prisons.

Nigg served time from 1976 to 1990 for robbing a motel, two convenience stores and a gas station with an accomplice in Arizona.

He was arrested again in Wisconsin some time later when he unknowingly sold two guns to a private investigator hired by his stepmother, New York Daily News reports. Nigg is scheduled to be released in 2024.

Fogle, on the other hand, will be in prison about five years longer than his alleged attacker, thanks to the 15.6-year sentence he received last November.

He pleaded guilty to having sex with underage prostitutes and possessing child pornography, some of which allegedly contained images of children as young as 6 years old.
