It's official: Anderson Cooper is a perfect human being.

The silver fox news anchor recently donated an undisclosed amount of money to the Norfolk, Virginia police department to provide bulletproof vests to all of the department's K-9 units, in honor of a police dog that was shot and killed last week.

Cooper's generous donation was made through charity Spike's K-9 Fund, founded by a former Navy Seal in memory of a K-9 of the same name who was killed in the line of duty in Iraq.

Jimmy Hatch, founder of Spike K-9 fund, says,

[Cooper] is such a good dude, and genuine. [He] wasn't keen [on publicizing the donation, but I] told him I was going to do it anyway.

Though it's unclear exactly how much Cooper donated, sources say it was enough to buy 18 K-9 vests, which cost approximately $2,200 each. There is even money left over to buy vests for some of the pooches in neighboring towns, and all of it came directly out of Cooper's paycheck. Swoon.
