8 Reasons You Can't Shake Off Taylor Swift, Despite How Hard You Try

Once upon a time, Taylor Swift was the only country singer I could tolerate.

Not only did I give her mad props for being so successful at such a young age, but this chick was a real artist who actually wrote her own music.

Then I turned 24 and heard "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" 43 million too many times.

I actively started looking for reasons to cut ties with Taylor Swift. I mean, she dated way too many of my celeb crushes, robbed Beyoncé for video of the year (am I right, Kanye?), and her fan base just kept getting younger and younger.

It turns out a lot of my besties felt the same way. We had to dump Taylor before she could dump us.

But, it didn’t take us long to discover there are a plethora of reasons why we just can't “shake off” Taylor Swift:

1. Two words: "Bad Blood"

The beat’s addicting, the lyrics ring truer than ever, and the combination of Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar is to die for.

I think I've repeatedly listened to "Bad Blood" more than any other song.

After the release of the video on Sunday, I’m not going to fight it anymore. Taylor Swift gets me. I just hope no bad blood was shed from that time I (unsuccessfully) tried to dump her.

2. Her lyrics perfectly capture every heartbreak you’ve ever experienced, from your first kiss to your called-off engagement.

Boy problems can make us want to scream and pull out all of our hair. Thankfully, Taylor Swift’s music provides a much better alternative where we can instead sing and simultaneously maintain our luxurious manes.

When your crush is playing hard to get, when you just found out you've been cheated on, or when your ex has a new girlfriend, it’s often hard to process your emotions, let alone put them into words.

The good news is Taylor Swift has done it for you. Jamming to her music creates a therapeutic release, and it often results in some pretty fantastic new dance moves.

3. The two of you have gotten pretty close, given all the time you spend alone together, jamming in your car.

You and Taylor have known each other for almost a decade now. As mentioned above, she’s seen you through some pretty rough times. But, she’s been there for some pretty great ones, too.

Sure, she’s a better singer than you and might be a bit eager to correct you when you get the lyrics wrong, but she’s always down to hop in your car and ride with the windows down. Over the years, your friendship has evolved, and so have the two of you.

You've gone from wiping the teardrops from your guitars and steering wheels to embracing the single life together.

Taylor’s music has taught you romance has its highs and lows, but most importantly, it's taught you sometimes, you just need to turn the volume up and enjoy the ride.

4. She somehow managed to gracefully steal the spotlight from a swarm of Victoria’s Secret Angels.

If you’re anything like me, you look forward to the magical night of girl crushing that is the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Since it occurs in December, you get to stuff your face while taking notes on which VS Angel will be the muse for keeping your upcoming New Year’s resolution.

It turns out Taylor Swift is such a showstopper that — despite the fact that she was wearing 42 percent more clothes than the VS Angels at this year’s fashion show — you couldn't peel your eyes off of her.

This December night might have been more magical than Christmas because, along with the inspiration to tone up for summer 2015, it brought you "Blank Space."

5. Her wardrobe is on fleek.

Taylor Swift has been rocking it on the red carpet for years now.

You’ve worked hard to deny her the title of Best Dressed, but after that turquoise Elie Saab number at this year’s Grammy Awards, there’s no denying it.

Taylor has surpassed the point of pop star and will forever remain a fashion icon. After all, she never goes out of style.

6. She has Ellen’s stamp of approval.

Making the world a brighter, smilier, accepting place, Ellen DeGeneres is pretty much The Don of Hollywood, and it’s no secret she adores Taylor Swift.

The two were Covergirl stars together, and Taylor is a frequent guest on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

They say you’re only as good as the company you keep, and I’m willing to bet that company doesn't get much better than Ellen.

Therefore, the laws of association make it clear Taylor Swift is one legit chick.

7. She treats her fans like gold.

Despite her overwhelming amount of awesome, Taylor Swift likes to keep it human.

She has every qualification to act like a disconnected celeb bot, but instead, she actively works to build relationships with her fans.

The fact one of the world’s best-selling artists invited fans into her home for private listening parties and thanked her Internet followers multiple times at the Billboard Music Awards (which she dominated, by the way) emphasizes what a truly admirable and gracious superstar Miss Swift truly is.

8. She’s a girl’s girl.

Managing to spew more girl power than all five Spice Girls combined, Taylor Swift is a dream feminist. She rocks a mean red lip while promoting a powerful message.

Addressing the fact females all too often commit girl-on-girl crime, Taylor's lyrics act as gems of wisdom that remind us we should have each other's backs. It's pretty obvious she has ours.

Good friends are hard to come by, and the amount of cameos in Swift’s "Bad Blood" video make it clear she has more than a few.

Taylor makes being loyal to her gal pals a priority, and she encourages us to do the same.
