Being Comfortable With The Uncomfortable: 6 Certainties To Be Aware Of In A World Of Change

by Miles Casas

The future is a place of the unknown. We love the idea of it, but in reality, we hate the uncertainty. We hate not being in control.

However, it’s time for a wake-up call, as change is the only constant.

As time goes by, more changes occur. If you can't get with the times, you'll get left behind. Come summer, many young adults will graduate from high school and college. New beginnings are around the corner and some of the biggest changes of a young adult’s life are imminent.

With such massive changes slated to happen, here's what you need to know to make it through.

Time Is All You Have

Remembering how far you’ve come and where you started is very important for understanding where you want to go. However, constantly looking back into the past is only holding you back.

Wishing that things would go back to the way they were is a waste of time. Time is the biggest commodity you have. You have to realize that your best days are ahead of you, which you’ll be able to do so long as you’re willing to make the best of your time and adapt to change.

Quickly Adapt

The ability to quickly adapt is an often overlooked trait but one of the most important for success. When obstacles come your way (and they most certainly will), your ability to adapt to the change will separate you from others.

A great example of adapting to change is Netflix. From sending out DVDs to streaming to millions of people around the world, Netflix is a perfect example of why adapting to change is crucial for success.

Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

As great as it may feel, a comfort zone is the worst place for you to be. The more comfortable you are, the less likely you are to try to better yourself. If you’re in a comfort zone, you’re losing.

Albert Einstein once said, “Once you stop learning, you start dying.” The greatest successes in history never stopped learning. They constantly looked for ways to better themselves, their work and their crafts. So, if you want your name on the lists of greats, get out of your comfort zone.

Constantly Grow

Change is inevitable. As much as you'd like things to stay as they are, they won't. Change is necessary in life. It brings about progress and is a constant opportunity for growth.

If you're not open to change, you're not open to progress. If you're not open to progress, you're not becoming a better you. If you're not becoming better, what are you doing with your life?

Build Your Future

We live in a very interesting time in which things are changing faster than ever. Technology, education and even music are evolving at a rapid rate. Today, change is more acceptable than ever before.

The brick and mortar days are quickly fading away and the forward thinkers are the ones building the future. Change can be a scary thing, but with change, there is always something new and exciting on the cusp. So, it’s time to accept change and start working toward your dreams.

Make A Change

Steve Jobs once said that "the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that do." As inspiring as that quote may be, he forgot to mention a crucial part: If you want to change the world, you’ll have to change yourself.
