When a relationship is as fun and exciting as it should be, it can be a challenge not to get caught up in your own little world and ignore your friends in the process.
Especially in a new partnership, you'll want to spend as much time as possible with bae, but by doing this you run a big risk of neglecting those who were there for you before your man was even in the picture: your friends.
While your squad should totally support you in your relationship, you're expected to support them, too. A decent guy will understand when it's time for you to hang with the girls for a while, and he'll be there when you get back.
Your friends have been keeping an eye out for you for as long as you can remember, and they'll know when something is off. It may be a total bummer to have them rain on your parade, but they just want what's best for you.
Here are seven important things your friends can get mad at you for when you have a BF. And remember, they're only upset because they love you.
1. When You Don't Take Care Of Yourself
Whether or not you're single AF, you always come first. Before you can take on the requests of any men, you need to make sure that you're taken care of.
Everything might seem fine and dandy on the surface, but your besties have a way of knowing when something isn't right. They'll be sure to let you know.
While your squad is always looking out for you, it's not their job to make sure your every whim is met. If you're not happy in any aspect of your life, put on your big girl panties and change it.
2. Ignoring Other Priorities
Even though your man may be a big piece of your life, he's certainly not the only piece.
Your family, friends, career, and personal life are all important parts of who you are, and it's unfair to concentrate all your efforts into just one or two of those fields.
Remember to give yourself a little space every now and again to make sure you're spending your time and efforts wisely.
3. Rescheduling Girls Night Again
Stuff happens, and your girls will understand, but you've got a problem if you're always rescheduling with your friends.
It can be super tricky to balance a busy schedule, but remember where your loyalties lie. You may be busy with cute dates with an even cuter guy, but that's no excuse to miss out on girls night for the second time this month.
4. When You Go Missing
It's totally understandable to want to spend forever talking, texting, and cuddling with bae, but your friends will notice when your guy is taking up an unhealthy amount of your time.
You won't want to hear it — no one ever does — but you'll be glad your girls spoke up when they did. The last thing anyone would want is for your relationship to become obsessive or even abusive.
5. Changing Yourself For Your BF
If your partner inspires you to be a better person, that's awesome, but if they prompt you to be someone you're not, that's a major red flag.
Even if they miss you, your friends want to see you happy. They'll be concerned if they see you changing who you are just to conform to what your BF is looking for.
Hear them out and try your best not to get defensive. They just want what's best for you.
6. Shutting Your Girls Out
Being able to talk to you guy about things that are troubling you is a wonderful part of a relationship, but he's not the only one you can go to in times of need.
You'll need a friend at one time or another, and your boo just may not make the cut. You might need to talk about him or your relationship with someone who isn't involved.
If you refuse to let anyone else in, you may just be shut out, too.
7. Making Decisions Around Him
While you may be more than willing to pack your bags and move across the country just to be with your BF, don't forget to evaluate what's best for you as an individual.
Will you be happy, even if you two don't end up together?
Remember, even though he's a significant part of your life, he isn't your whole life.
