When I first moved to New York City, I was a junior in college and had just transferred to NYU. I didn't know anyone. I'm not exaggerating. Well, technically I was seeing a boy who answered one out of every five texts, if that counts.

Turns out, when you transfer into a school like NYU, it's very hard to make friends. Over the first semester, I made zero friends and got my heart broken. At the time, there were no dating apps. There was barely social media. Facebook was the only option.

A guy once told me Tinder has “the coolest and most interesting girls," and that sounded great to me. I want to meet cool and interesting girls.

Had Tinder existed back when I was in college, I think it would have been a great way to make friends. What could go wrong?
