Man Gets Catapulted Off Of A Boom Lift, Proves Why Safety Harnesses Were Invented (Video)

by Connor Toole

I love heavy machinery, and I love the fact that you can rent it without having to prove that you have any idea what you're doing.

Pay special attention to that second point; it's going to be highly relevant in a couple of seconds.

I don't know who these guys are, where they're located or why they're using a boom lift, but I do know that they're absolutely clueless when it comes to operating one.

As "Mythbusters" proved back when "Mythbusters" was all the rage, boom lifts are essentially catapults. For most people, this is obvious because they look exactly like a catapult.

Unfortunately (or thankfully, depending on your perspective), the man in the lift's basket was blissfully unaware of the basic laws of physics, and it would also appear that he had never heard of a revolutionary invention called a "safety harness."

He should probably learn about both of those things.
