Disney Princesses Giving Their Younger Selves Advice Is Pretty Great (Video)

by Gillian Fuller

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that most of us, given the chance, would happily go back in time to teach our younger selves the life lessons we've learned as adults.

In honor of International Women's Day, a handful of the most iconic Disney princesses did just that as a part of YouTube's #DearMe initiative, which aims to “inspire and empower young girls” throughout the globe.

In a short video posted by Creature, the princesses -- including Snow White, Cinderella and even Elsa -- detail the advice and wisdom they'd give to their younger selves if they could.

The lessons are motivational (Mulan stresses that being feminine doesn't mean you're weak), fun (Cinderella insists, “you're going to party your face off”) and just plain silly (Jasmine tells her teenage self “you can't just steal bread”).

But the content of the life lessons isn't as important as the underlying message: Growing up is tough for everyone -- even princesses.

And if they can overcome adversity -- what with evil godmothers and sorceresses and poisoned apples -- we can too.
