5 Ways You Can Turn Your Boyfriend's Clothes Into A Chic Outfit

by Kaylin Pound

We've all been there.

You spend the night at your boyfriend's place, sleep through your alarm and suddenly wake up only to realize you don't have enough time to run home and change before your Saturday brunch session with the squad -- or, even worse, your 9 am meeting with the boss.

Naturally, your first instinct is probably just to say, "f*ck it," call in pretending to be sick and go back to snuggling up with your boo as you drift back into dreamland.

However, we all know being irresponsible isn't always that easy and, sometimes, pulling the sick card to get out of your obligation simply isn't an option.

So, that leaves us with one very important question: What the hell are you supposed to do when this outfit emergency strikes?

No, "have a nervous breakdown" is not the answer.

You just have to get a little creative and work with what you have -- aka whatever you sported the night before and, more importantly, your boyfriend's closet!

Yep, all is fair in love and wardrobes.

Now, I know you're asking yourself:

How am I supposed to pull off a chic ensemble with a bunch of clothes 10 sizes too big for me?

Well, I actually had the same question, so I turned to Christine Cameron, the NYC stylist and fashionista behind the blog My Style Pill, for some advice on how to remedy this clothing crisis.

When it comes to repurposing your boyfriend's clothes on the fly, it's important to remember a few simple things.

Christine told Elite Daily,

You shouldn't take your outfit too seriously -- embrace the slouchy, oversized look of a boyfriend button-down or tee, just remember to tuck or cinch accordingly to create a more feminine silhouette.

Take a look at the pictures below to see Christine's tips on how to rock your boyfriend's clothes.

His flannel button down

What better to wear on a low-key Saturday than your boyfriend's flannel button down? Opt for skinny jeans to offset the oversized fit of the shirt, then roll up the sleeves and tuck in the front to avoid bulkiness and highlight your shape.

His t-shirt

Oversized tees stolen from your boyfriend's closet can act as more than just your basic sleep shirts. Wear one of his soft, jersey-knit t-shirts under a structured blazer with edgy, distressed skinny jeans and ankle booties to create a sleek, monochromatic look perfect for running weekend errands.

His white dress shirt

Don't feel like waking up and putting on last night's cocktail attire for the walk home? Keep it classy by snagging one of his dress shirts to offset your statement skirt and simply knot it at the waist for a cute, relaxed look.

His cardigan

Celine Rahman
They don't call it a 'boyfriend cardigan' for nothing. It's perfectly oversized and slouchy, which looks great worn over a girly tank or blouse with a pair of leather skinnies and suede booties. Roll up the sleeves and leave it unbuttoned for a relaxed, understated vibe.

His hat

If your hair is suffering from bed head, a cute and quick alternative to a messy bun is to simply borrow one of his ball caps and pull it on over your slept-in hair for a perfectly lived-in look. Pair with casual, cool-girl overalls, a tee and sneakers.
