The Future Is Finally Here: Lexus Created A Real-Life Hoverboard (Video)

by Eitan Levine

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.

Lexus just dropped a short teaser trailer unveiling a fully functional hoverboard that will be available for sale in the not-too-distant future.

According to the website, the board, which is named SLIDE and part of the "Actions in Motion" series, achieves its magnetic lift through liquid nitrogen-cooled superconductors and permanent magnets.

Aside from that, there is not that much other information in terms of price or a release date.

Lexus did, however, release a branded hashtag, #LexusHover, and that's just as good as concrete information.

I am pretty excited for the future of skate punks who are also tech nerds.

Kids who are constantly cutting school, getting emo tattoos and fighting with their stepdads while knowing advanced physics and how superconductors work is part of a future I am excited to live in.

2015 is the year that magnets became cool.

SLIDE features the  “Lexus spindle grille signature shape” and a natural bamboo exterior.

I would sell my children if it meant that I'd be able to afford to put a downpayment on one of these.
