Looking to introduce your tastebuds to something new?

The land of bizarre food concoctions just got a new resident thanks to Krispy Kreme. The doughnut chain, originally founded in 1937, has set out to introduce a couple of new doughnut flavors just because.

According to TIME, the chain plans to release a watermelon doughnut as well as a lemon doughnut. The catch? Those willing to actually taste these new, obscure doughnut flavors will have to take a trip to Japan.

Despite only operating out of Japan since 2006, Krispy Kreme has granted Japan exclusive access to its new watermelon and lemon varieties. I just can't figure out if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Watermelon doughnut...? Really...?

I guess this shouldn't come as a surprise. After all, "doughritos" are a thing.

Krispy Kreme's new watermelon doughnuts feature "watermelon fruit juice jelly with chocolate chips" and "watermelon-flavored chocolate" (whatever the hell that means).

The lemon version looks less ridiculous but still kinda bizarre:

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during the Krispy Kreme board meeting where these oh-so-genius limited edition menu items were introduced. I can imagine it went something like this:

*Stares into office fridge full of random shit*

I've got it!

*Runs back into conference room*

The new flavors will be available from now through July 19, which means you'd better book that trip to Japan ASAP. Bon voyage!
