Life Hack Alert: You Can Now Book Uber Rides Directly From Google Maps

by Kate Ryan
So much easier.

That's right. In a breakthrough development, we can now book our Uber rides directly from Google Maps, making it easier than ever to get your drunken self home.

Google Maps announced Tuesday they'd be introducing the feature soon, allowing users to view ride service stats right alongside info on walking, driving and public transit times. The new tab is set to arrive on Android phones in the next couple days and iOS users can expect to use it slightly after.

Thanks to this update, you'll be able to catch Uber rides all over the world as well as other ride service companies like Ola Cabs in India, Gett in the UK, Hailo in the UK and Spain, Mytaxi in Germany and Spain and 99Taxis in Brazil. The tab will let you know how close cabs are to you along with fare estimates.

If you're a Lyft fan, however, sad news. You won't find Lyft seamlessly woven into Google Maps, likely because Google has invested millions of dollars into Uber. Guess you'll just have to live in the dark ages and operate multiple apps like a peasant.

No word yet on when Google Maps will incorporate Schlep.
