'PLL' Fans Upset By Show's Very Offensive Tweet About Trans Character

by Taylor Ortega

Fans of Jimmy Stewart's classic Christmas film “It's a Wonderful Life” remember the famous line that says,

Every time a member of ABC Family's social media department gets fired for posting lazy, transphobic content, an angel gets his or her wings.

On Monday, a tweet teasing the next season of ABCF's young adult thriller series "Pretty Little Liars" referred to a transgender character -- the character revealed at the end of the latest season to be the show's central villain -- as “He. She. It.”

Though the tweet was deleted almost immediately, fans jumped on the offensive use of pronouns.

Many expressed their disgust.

This fan even threatened to abandon the fandom.

An official response to the slip-up and the subsequent criticism from fans was not yet released by ABC Family, but odds are, it's a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day for someone in that office.
