8 Holiday Episodes '90s Kids Should Rewatch This Month

by Anna Menta
NBC

Ah, so you're hanging out with some of your millennial friends and you guys want to watch something very '90s and very festive, huh?

Or maybe you've finally got some time off of work and school, and you don't know what to do with all this free time.

(This is a problem I've never had personally, but maybe you guys don't like sleep as much as me.)

Either way, I've got you covered with this list of classic holiday episodes from our favorite '90s and early 2000s shows.

(Early 2000s counts as '90s, OK?!)

1. "The One With The Holiday Armadillo" from "Friends"

NBC

There's a lot of amazing Christmas episodes from "Friends," and I know it's blasphemy not to pick "The One With The Routine," but this episode from season seven has always been a personal favorite.

David Schwimmer's "I'M THE HOLIDAY ARMADILLO" voice gets me every time.

2. "The Strike" from "Seinfeld"

NBC

AKA the "Festivus" episode from "Seinfeld's" ninth season. It's an American classic at this point. If you've heard the word "Festivus," and didn't know where it was from, this is it.

It's the holiday episode for the rest of us!

3. "The Santa Experience" from "Rugrats"

Nickelodeon

Again, many great "Rugrats" holiday episodes, but I think this early episode from season two is the one to watch.

This episode will take you back, and bring up some philosophical questions about the morality of Santa Claus.

4. "Our Very First Christmas Show" from "Full House"

ABC

"Fuller House" may be a disappointment, but you can still get in the spirit with the Tanner family with this classic Christmas episode from season two. John Stamos and Joey Gladstone sing! It's delightful!

5. "Arnold's Christmas" from "Hey Arnold!"

Nickelodeon

This season one gem is not only the best holiday episode of "Hey Arnold," it's also one of the best episodes of the whole damn show.

It gets into some heavy topics like death and depression, and it's honestly more nuanced and moving than any kid's show has a right to be.

6. "The Best Chrismukkah Ever" from "The OC"

FOX

What more could you possibly want from a holiday episode? It's Hanukkah, it's Christmas, it's Seth Cohen from "The OC." I mean, holy Moses, it's beautiful!

7. "Amends" from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

The WB

OK, admittedly this season three episode is not really the best of the series. But this the only Christmas episode "Buffy" ever had, and who am I to create a list of 90s TV episodes and leave off Buffy?

8. "Marge Be Not Proud" from "Simpsons"

Fox

Of the "The Simpsons" many Christmas episodes, this hilarious one from the seventh season is probably the best.

Also, fun fact, this episode is based on a true story from one of the writers, who really did shoplift and return an item.

If I left off your favorite '90s or early 2000s holiday episode and you hate me now, I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

Happy holidays everyone!
