First 'Orange Is The New Black' Trailer Picks Up Right After That Season 4 Twist
Warning: Spoilers for season four of "Orange Is the New Black." Duh.
It's been a long winter, but "Orange Is the New Black" is finally "Orange Is the New Back."
On Tuesday morning, Netflix dropped the "Season 5 First Look" of the original series, a minute-long clip that puts us right back where we left off in Litchfield last summer.
After that nine month wait, maybe some of you forgot how that crazy finale of season four left off. Well, let me remind you — a prison guard, Baxter Bayler, chokes Poussey (Samira Wiley) to death.
In response, the prisoners "riot." Daya gets a hold of a gun, and the season ends with her pointing it straight at an officer's face while the inmates egg her on.
We pick up right there in this new season five trailer, with brand new shots of that final scene.
Officer Humphrey stares back at Daya, almost defiantly.
Then we cut to Piper and Alex, the last people anyone cares about right now.
"If this is a real riot, do you think this is a step forward or backward for equality?" Piper asks... Yeah.
(Sorry, just not feeling Taylor Schilling's naive privileged girl humor while we wait to see if Daya is going to avenge Poussey's death or not.)
We go back to Daya with the gun on Humphrey and...
...we hear the sound of a gunshot just as it cuts to the title page.
So someone definitely gets shot, we just don't know who it is yet. Did Daya pull the trigger on Officer Humphrey? Or did another guard in the wings shoot Daya down before she could do so?
Last month we finally got a date for season five, when Netflix released its first teaser video.
So hopefully we'll be getting all the answers to these question on June 9, 2017!
