OMG: There Is A Movie About Emoji Currently In The Works At Sony

by Eitan Levine

Soooooo, this is happening.

Deadline reports there is a movie about emoji in the works.

To answer your question, yes, you read that right.

Those little icons teenagers use instead of words and parents awkwardly use to try to connect with their teenagers are being turned into the subjects of a full-length film.

What's more is Hollywood thinks this idea has so much potential, there was a bidding war over which studio got the rights to make the film.

Sony Pictures Animation eventually won the auction with writers Eric Siegel and Anthony Leondis set to draft a script.

Leondis, who directed “Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters,” is also slated to direct the emoji film.

This is all very preliminary, so casting and full plot details are still unknown.

All I know is I'd pay $17,000 for a ticket to watch a purple eggplant voiced by Christoph Waltz.

So, Hollywood, do that.
