Ed Sheeran Responds After Calling Nicki Minaj's Argument 'Redundant'

by Madeline Concannon

It seems like just about everyone is up Taylor Swift's ass right now, and Ed Sheeran is no exception.

Recently, Nicki Minaj and TSwift got into some beef on Twitter when Her Minajesty insinuated the “Anaconda” video didn't get nominated for Video of the Year because it didn't feature skinny, white people.

Obviously, Taylor had to set Nicki straight and responded,

...it's unlike you to pit women against each other.

Ed Sheeran tried to defend his friend Taylor by calling Nicki's argument “redundant."

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Sheeran said,

I think everyone knows that Taylor has done nothing wrong in that situation. She didn't nominate herself for the awards. She just made some good videos and people think they're good. And I think the Minaj point is a bit redundant, her point is that you have to be skinny and white to get a video of the year nomination but Beyoncé's '7/11' is in there and that is celebrating the female figure in every form.

However, after BuzzFeed quoted him in an article, he realized he didn't come off like he wanted, and he tweeted an apology for the way he worded his statement on the situation.

@BuzzFeedUK that's taken out of context and not what I was saying was redundant at all — Ed Sheeran (@edsheeran) July 23, 2015
@BuzzFeedUK I was making a point about body image and not race, whilst sticking up for a mate, I definitely said it wrong though, apologies — Ed Sheeran (@edsheeran) July 23, 2015

Wow, TSwift is lucky to have a friend who's willing to admit when he's made a mistake.

Cheers to celebrity friendships and feuds!
