Kesha's Fans Declared "Woman" The Feminist Anthem Of The Summer

Kesha can't stop being the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Earlier in July, she dropped her first song in four years and delivered us the gift of her masterpiece, "Praying."

Now, she's just released a new music video for her song "Woman," and the lyrics got me like, "Yes, please. I'll have what she's having."

This song is a joyous, uplifting romp in feminism, and we are here for it.

So, what are the main themes? Oh, just that she makes her own money, she doesn't need men to have fun, and leave her the F alone. Seriously.

The chorus' lyrics are:

While the message is undeniably – how do you say – relevant for today's society, the song itself is playful, uncensored, and an easy listen, which is a welcome breath of fresh air in an otherwise heavy conversation regarding women equality.

Kesha worded it perfectly on Twitter, saying,

I just really f*cking love being a woman and I wanted an anthem to yell about being self-sufficient and strong.

As a female, the constant struggle for independence, power, and respect in a male-driven world can be a downright drag, to put it lightly. Luckily, songs like this help provide an extra boost of support and morale to keep us motivated and keep going!

It is also particularly powerful for these words to be coming from Kesha, after she had such a long, brutal, and public legal battle with ex producer, Dr. Luke, and was unable to break free of her contract with Sony for four years.

Today, she is rocking gold-sequin pantsuits and kicking ass, and we can't be more thrilled to have her back.
