9 Shameless Activities All Single Ladies Should Indulge In This Weekend

by Taylor Sloan

Being single used to be a death sentence way back when. I mean, who the hell would want to do things alone all the time?

But now, being single is one of the most badass things a woman can do. You're not necessarily confined to being alone all the time, but if you want to be alone, that's your choice.

I always tell people, “I don't want to be alone; I want to be left alone. But in order to be left alone, sometimes, I just have to be alone.”

And according to Carrie Bradshaw, “Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you. Now, it means you're pretty sexy and you're taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with.”

Not to mention, dating in today's world gets more difficult every day.

To be honest, though, I am actually a hopeless romantic. I will never stop believing love exists or that there is someone out there for everyone.

On the other hand, being a witness to relationships that have fallen apart and being so naïve in my own endeavors, I've come to terms with the fact I'm not sure I'll ever be in a perfect relationship or find someone at all.

If I have more fun being single AF and know I deserve more than being a “sometimes” kind of woman, then so be it.

And hey, at least with being single comes all of the things we can get away with doing:

1. Cooking for one

Seriously, one of my biggest pet peeves is the type of people who think women were only made to slave over a stove, clean and take care of kids.

Sometimes, we women have better things to do. So if I want to order my weight in Chinese takeout, that is what I will do.

If you are a single woman who enjoys cooking, then good for you. But no one should expect you to do anything, despite what your asshole of a Tinder date tells you.

2. Splurging our paycheck at Sephora

No one is there to yell at us when we spend basically our entire bank account on beauty products.

I mean, have you seen the Christmas sets yet? One of everything may already be in my shopping cart.

3. Spending a whole day using the "Rabbit"

The Rabbit (or any vibrator) is a woman's best friend.

You can't be yelled at by your SO for getting off all day if you don't have an SO. You also can't be scolded for enjoying a toy bigger than his package. Sorry, not sorry.

You can't be yelled at by your SO for getting off all day if you don't have an SO.

4. Buying ourselves presents

I ordered the SinglesSwag box, and I absolutely love it.

Seriously, receiving monthly gifts for myself because I made the decision to be single might be the greatest thing this world has to offer.

5. Telling people off at the bar

When guys see a woman isn't wearing a ring, they move in like we're shark bait.

I get particularly annoyed when I'm dancing with my friends and guys start to grab, caress, pull or rub up against me. If this happens to you, as it does so often to me, give yourself space.

And if that doesn't work, just yell, “FUCK OFF.”

OK, so telling people off at the bar isn't exactly an exclusive thing for single ladies. But when you have a boyfriend, people just assume he's your bodyguard when you're out at night.

But I can guard myself. Thanks, babe.

6. Indulging in champagne while wearing lingerie

Drinking champagne makes everything you do feel a little sexier, and wearing your lingerie only adds to that feeling.

Think lingerie is only for those who need to spice up their sex lives? Think again. You do not need someone with you to enjoy this little life perk.

Lingerie on its own makes women feel sexy and empowered in their sexuality. We don't need a man for that.

7. Being reckless and having no shame

Sometimes, we get entirely too drunk, whether it be during weekend brunch, happy hour, dinner or on a night out with the girls.

Whatever drunken moment you may be having, embrace it and do not regret one second of your recklessness.

8. Taking that hottie home from the bar.

Life is way too short not to sleep with the hottie you've been flirting with all night. Say something bold, make sure your tabs are paid and strut out the door to the Uber.

And if you want to kick them out after you've finished, that's your prerogative.

9. Making our own rules.

Luckily for us single ladies, we can live however we please. There is no one holding us back from living the life we want.

Luckily for us single ladies, we can live however we please.

If you want to go out and indulge in a steak dinner by yourself, do it. If you want to focus on your career instead of finding a forever partner, then keep at it.

We, as women, aren't oppressed for choosing ourselves anymore. So choose yourself, and enjoy getting away with these things for now.
