Hysterical Literature: Orgasm For Orgasm’s Sake

Spoiler Alert: You may want to check out one of these videos before you continue reading to accurately indulge in the unexpected...Attention: Private viewing is encouraged - at least until you've seen what it's all about.

Many and most women will choose for her orgasm to be a private matter. It will be a sight unseen by anyone who hasn't done the work to escort her down the yellow brick road themselves. The opposite extreme is that for some women, acting out an orgasm on screen is just another day at the office.

But how often does the opportunity arise to witness a woman overcome by genuine sexually provoked bliss? Some of you, men and unfortunately women alike, may never have seen (or felt) evidence of a female orgasm firsthand.

Clayton Cubitt's recent video art series ‘Hysterical Literature’ puts the spotlight on this major discrepancy in our sexually charged society.

With the help of a few women bold enough to show us what it really does feel like for a girl, Cubitt has produced a controversial project that requires an upfront confrontation with the big O. The premise of the film project is simple: a woman is asked to read an excerpt from a personally elected body of literature.

She is filmed in black and white. The action takes place below the table she is seated at, where she is being stimulated via vibrator operated by a third party.

As she does her best to recite the excerpt aloud, we witness ::GASP:: a real live woman on a real live climatic journey. What we end up with is a real live treat (that and a pretty convincing shout out to vibrators).

In this project, the subtlety of sexuality’s role in arousal contrasts the overt ribaldry of staged acts often portrayed in any comparable films including but not limited to porn...not to mention the faked performances that occur far too often in the bedroom. The women involved are no strangers to sexuality, but rather professionals in sex/sensuality across varying professions.

Among them, outspoken porn star Stoya and burlesque performer Stormy Leather. Whatever the personal motivation of the participants, their involvement presents an active confrontation with a deep rooted societal fear of female indulgence in pleasure.

Now that you’ve seen the real deal, why not get involved in your own research? I beg you to heed my advice ladies, only because the concept of orgasm for orgasm’s sake is so decadently liberating and empowering.

Men will love it because the only thing sexier than watching a woman cum is knowing you’re the one who beckoned her there. Check out sessions one through five. And have fun following up with your very own... artistic endeavors. Who knew ‘Leaves of Grass’ could be so sexy? (Ok, I admit I had an inkling).
