Everything I Want To Say To The 'Good Guy' I Fell In Love With

If I had a nickel for every time I've said, “I just want a good guy,” I'd have no problems funding my therapy sessions.

I think I can speak for most women in their 20s when I say getting the good guy is a nice idea, but we aren't the best at following through.

Raise your hand if you've been personally victimized by the “u up?” text at 2 am, or pursuing that guy in your phone labeled under “Hot Guy at Patio Bar” for the third time. Also, shout out to the response to that douche on Snapchat messages. Note: Nothing good comes from Snapchat messages. It's sneaky and lazy.

At the end of the day, we all just want the Ross to our Rachel.

At the end of the day, we all just want the Ross to our Rachel.

Well, I got him. He puts up with all my bullshit and even loves me for a lot of it.

Often, I wonder how he puts up with me and thank my lucky stars that I finally stopped pursuing guys who were awful for me.

The good guy is worth it. The good guy will be there for you when no one else is. The good guy will pick you up off the ground after one too many margaritas at dinner. Here's what I want to thank my "good guy" boyfriend for.

1. Thank you for accepting me, along with my flaws and insecurities.

I struggle with anxiety and depression. I am an over-thinker. I get really moody when I'm tired or hungry.

Thank you for loving me despite all of these things that even annoy me. Oh, and that made me remember…

2. Thank you for picking up Midol and snacks for me that one time my uterus hated me.

You're the real MVP.

3. Thank you for being OK with all of my tattoos.

Because an arrow on a white girl's rib is almost too basic to handle.

4. Thank you for watching rom coms with me.

You know it's true love when he suggests The Wedding Planner on a lazy Sunday in bed.

5. Thank you for holding my purse when I just gotta bust a move.

I don't even have to say a word. You just know when “Back Dat Azz Up” comes on that you're holding my clutch.

6. Thank you for putting your cup in the dishwasher instead of letting it sit in the sink.

It will always be just a little annoying to you, but it makes my anxious heart happy.

7. Thank you for taking my dog out when I'm too comfortable to get out of bed.

It doesn't hurt that you absolutely love dogs, but this is one of those things that makes me smile and realize you're a keeper.

8. Thank you for supporting me in my decisions.

Like when I needed to go back to therapy, even when you knew many of the answers to my problems. And that one time I bought a really cute romper knowing you kind of sort of hate them.

9. Thank you for understanding that sometimes I get a little crazy...

You know it's a girl thing, and you know it will pass.

10. ... And making fun of me for it after the fact.

I would be concerned if you didn't.

11. Thank you for being down to try anything.

“I saw it in Cosmo” is always an accepted conversation starter.

12. Thank you for telling me I'm beautiful when I have three zits on my face and I've been dry shampooing for 3 days in a row.

These are the moments I need a little extra love, and you never disappoint.

13. Thank you for sending me “good morning” and “goodnight” texts every day.

This is such a small act but it goes such a long way.

14. Thank you for letting me have a good cry.

Like that time you made me watch Click and my whole body was contorted there for a sec from the tears.

15. Thank you for having my favorite drink ready for me when I get home.

No explanation necessary.

16. Thank you for being quiet when "The Bachelorette" is on.

Because you know I'll cut you if you interrupt this rose ceremony!

17. Thank you for choosing me.

All jokes aside, thank you for choosing me every day.
