Occupy Wall Street Attacking The Fashion Industry… Again

by Ally Batista

Fashion Week gets a lot of unnecessary flack, in my opinion. Protestors frequently appear at the tents to complain about whatever it is they complain about, and this year’s Fall 2013 presentations will be no different.

The protestors behind the infamous Occupy Wall Street movement will be picketing this February’s Fashion Week in attempt to protest unpaid internships.

The protest group has an Intern Rights division of their clan and members are currently planning to be present during NYFW on February 8 through February 10. These particular protestors will also be planning demonstrations for the London and Paris Fashion Weeks as well.

This seems like a lost cause, don’t you think? Isn’t it the students’ decision as to whether they want an unpaid internship or not? Aren’t you getting paid in experience? Isn’t that the entire point?

What do you think?
