Rihanna Just Became The First Black Woman To Star In A Dior Campaign
Since she first hit the Hollywood scene back in 2005, Rihanna has continually been regarded as one of the industry's leading style stars, and for good reason. Her individuality knows no bounds.
Though she's no stranger to high fashion — she once starred in a Balmain campaign, and she's a regular on the Fashion Week circuit — the Barbados-born beauty just got her first real break in the fashion industry, and it's huge.
This morning, Women's Wear Daily confirmed Rihanna has been selected as the face of Dior's newest campaign. She will be the first black woman ever to represent the French brand, and she'll join the ranks of past faces like Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lawrence.
Considering Dior launched back in 1946, the decision to include women of color was long overdue.
Rihanna's contract includes a print campaign shot by Steven Klein as well as the starring role in the fourth episode of the brand's “Secret Garden” series, shot at the Palace of Versailles in France.
Both are set to debut later this spring.
